WLC Employee Feature: Sharon Lan

With her graduation quickly approaching, WLC Architects would like to recognize and thank one of our talented interns - Sharon Lan.  Sharon joined the firm in May of 2017, and will be pursuing her career specializing in interior design after graduation.

On her last day at WLC, Sharon was kind enough to recount her experience here.

"When I started at WLC, I didn't know what I wanted to do exactly.  I knew a little bit - but I didn't know what I was good at, what I needed to improve on, or where my passions lie.  After two years here at WLC, I've learned a great deal - not just pertaining to architecture, but also on how to be a better communicator, being better at consulting with your consultants, having so much exposure to the industry, and experiencing the job sites."

“I didn't quite understand how WLC was structured when I started.  But I soon found out that Jim DiCamillo was the President of WLC - and I was on the President's team, which was kind of funny.  Being on Jim's team was such a privilege - because he holds such a high standard for his entire team.  I feel blessed that I was able to be a part of it.”

In my heart of hearts, I just want to say thank you.  I’m so happy to have made groups of lifelong friends and experienced this community here at WLC.

“Robert and Wendell have opened so many doors for me - what I like to do, what I'm good at, what I need to work on - all those things. Working with the entire team -  Peter, Susanto, Phuc, Brandon, Gabe, Eva, Loren, and Andy - it's a little intimidating because they are all so experienced.  But I feel like you're only as good as your teacher - and they have all been such good teachers to me.”

“In my heart of hearts, I just want to say thank you.  I'm so happy to have made groups of lifelong friends and experienced this community here at WLC.  Working here has definitely set a high standard for me.”

Everyone on Team Deek will miss Sharon’s bright eyed and ever inquisitive smile, her teachable demeanor... and for allowing us all to live vicariously through the Lan family’s exotic world wide travel photos. It’s been a joy having Sharon in the Studio, despite her UCLA allegiance. God Speed!

Congratulations on your graduation, Sharon!  We hope for the absolute best as you fulfill your passions in architecture!
