Montclair Youth Center

Montclair, CA

The Montclair Youth Center is a 10,000 sf adaptive reuse of the former Montclair Police Department facility to meet the needs of the City’s under-served youth population. With a construction budget of $3.2 million, the space was transformed from a dark, compartmentalized office setting with a jail facility into an open, multi-functional recreational environment for teens. With the challenge of a tight budget and limited space, the City required a host of programs for the project. This was achieved by large flexible spaces within the interior and open activity areas that flow into one another.
